Client Profile
ACLS is the premiere representative of humanities scholarship in the United States, representing sixty-six national scholarly organizations.
Needs
In order to cope with the rising cost of equipment, supplies and administrative help needed to process tens of thousands of pages of grant applications, ACLS needed to have an end-to-end electronic application system to replace their outdated systems and manual processes.
Solution
BMM developed the Online Fellowship Application (OFA), which supports all aspects and phases of the grant application process. OFA acts as a central hub or repository, transforming formerly manual/paper-driven processes for applicants, referees, reviewers and administrators into a completely paperless, Internet-based application.
Benefits
- Allows a completely paperless grant application process.
- Improved data accuracy through the use of online forms and eliminating the need for data transcription.
- Improved control and accountability through the online tracking of all events such as application initiation, reference letter submission, and application completion.
- Improved convenience to applicants, referees, reviewers and administrators.
- Enhancement of ACLS's online presence.
Software and Services
ActivePDF Server, ActivePDF DocConvert, Microsoft .NET Framework, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003
Client Response
"BMM worked with us as a partner every step of the way," says Candace Frede, Director of Publications and Information Technology at ACLS. "They not only found solutions to the myriad of technical issues that came up, but also gave invaluable input to the way our particular process could be adapted to an automated solution."
